Arts Alley Project Receives $267,000 Grant!

Streamline Architects is excited to share that Arts Alley, located in Rock Island, has been awarded a $267,000 grant to revitalize the downtown and attract both locals and visitors to the historic area.

In partnership with the State of Illinois, City of Rock Island, Quad Cities Chamber, Quad City Arts, and Visit Quad Cities, we were able to guide this collaborative process to bring this vision to fruition. In August 2021, we presented a series of design options to the steering committee for further development. Upon selecting a direction for design, in conjunction with our partners, we applied for the Tourism Attraction and Festivals Grant Program.

“These types of statewide grant programs are extremely competitive, so it’s exciting to see the state of Illinois recognize and support our ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown Rock Island through this award.”

— Jack Cullen, Downtown Rock Island Director for the Quad Cities Chamber

Throughout this process, Streamline solicited bids for landscaping, art installation, and multiple other elements of the design. We also teamed up with Public Works to provide detailed estimates of infrastructure improvements.

Our sister company, Streamline Artisans, designed statement gateways at both entrances of the alley. This will help to draw in visitors from both sides of the river.

Through the Arts Alley initiative, we hope to see the arts, culture, and businesses of Rock Island grow and thrive. We look forward to continuing our impact on Rock Island and creating a space that you will love to visit!
